Youth are the future of our nation. Yet many needy and less privileged Youth, especially those in the rural and interior areas are being left out in the main stream of education and other opportunities. In the silence of their hearts, they are pleading for someone or some organizations to take them into consideration.
To answer to their plight, the Brothers of St.Gabriel established its first foundation, Monfort Boys Town (MBT) in 1959 in Shah Alam in Selangor. The demand is great with the result that the Brothers decided to spread its wings to Sabah and Melaka.
The Monfort Centre in Sabah laid its foundation in June 1999 starting with 15 Youth ona 1.1acre site in Penampang known as Monfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC). Gradually, with added make-shift facilities, the centre currently caters to 70 Youth. This humble beginning had begun to bear fruits in having equipped many Youth with technical skills, discipline and moral values for the workplace.
MYTC is accredited to Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (Department of Skills Development) formerly known as MLVK. Thetraining is for a period of 2 years. The courses offered are: Automotive Mechanics, Carpentry and Welding (Metal Fabrication).
